Worland Warriors still perfect

WORLAND- The Worland Warriors matched up against 4A Riverton on Tuesday night in Worland and walked away with a 2-1 victory and improved their record to 4-0 on the season.

Much of the game was tough sledding for the Warriors who had looks early but couldn't capitalize. This resilient team kept at it. In the 67th minute a foul on senior Jakob Schaeffer would set up a penalty kick for senior Jacob Lamm who converted giving Worland a 1-0 lead.

Two minutes later in the 65th minute senior Jorge Carmona would score off a great assist from Lamm to put the Warriors up 2-0.

As time was not on their side Riverton kept pushing and attacking and the Warriors would have an answer each time. Then in the 80th minute a foul was committed by Worland, giving the Wolverines a penalty kick which Slade Becker converted on.

It was too little too late for the Wolverines, as for the final few minutes of the second half the Warriors defense kept Riverton from scoring a game-tying goal.

Coach Ron Overcast said, "The team possessed the ball well, controlled the game, and picked up a win. Now we need to turn our attention to the next game against Powell, it's a quadrant game and we need to be focused."

The Worland Warriors will hit the road again as they travel to Powell Friday for a 6 p.m. match.
