Worland place several in top eight at Powell

POWELL- The Worland Warriors track team traveled to Powell over weekend to compete in the L.A. Kohnke track meet Saturday. Along with Worland, 11 other schools took part in the day's events including, Burlington, Cody, Greybull, Lovell, Meeteetse, Powell, Riverside, Riverton, Rocky Mountain, Ten Sleep and Thermopolis.

While the Warriors didn't bring the full team as there were scheduling conflicts with prom and other events, coach Tracey Wiley still said the team did well, "Typically when you have meets the day of prom you can see the kids attention drift, but the kids were focused and still gave it their all."

The Warriors had Chance Martello qualify for state in the 1600-meter and Emmy Dykman take first in both the 100-meter and 200-meter.

"It was a good day, Chance Martello qualified for state in the 1600m, Emmy Dykman won both the 100m and 200m. Then we had multiple kids place in the top eight of their events. Which is what you want to do in order to win regionals and state," added coach Wiley.

Next up for the Warriors will be a meet in Riverton on April 16.
