Shinost sentencing set for Monday continued

THERMOPOLIS – A continuance was initiated Monday afternoon in Hot Springs County District Court for the sentencing of a Thermopolis man.

A new date for the sentencing of Cody Shinost has not been set. More information will be present when available.

Shinost was found guilty by a jury of nine women and three men in Washakie County District Court in Worland on Feb. 4 for aggravated homicide by vehicle under intoxication of alcohol for the death of Madisen A. Price, driving a car while under the influence with serious bodily injury to Delaine Price and guilty of driving a car under the influence with serious bodily injury to Dylan Balstad.

According to the initial Wyoming Highway Patrol report, Madisen Price, 21, was killed when Shinost’s vehicle left the roadway and rolled two times at 9:50 p.m. on May 14, 2014. The crash occurred approximately 15 miles north of Thermopolis on WYO 172.

A sentencing hearing on the three counts was originally scheduled for Monday, but was canceled was due to a “matter that came up,” according Terri Cornella, Hot Springs County Clerk of District Court.

Shinost remains released on bond conditions until the sentencing hearing.
