David Neiber Murdoch

David Nieber Murdoch 72, passed away on April 28, 2016 at the Washakie Medical Center in Worland.

Dave was born July 31, 1943 to William Murdoch and Adeline Neiber Murdoch in Worland, Wyoming at the old hospital where the current county library is. Dave always shared the good times of his younger days of working on the farm for the Miller Brothers and growing up in the Big Horn Basin. He attended school in Worland and graduated in 1961. While in school, Dave drove a school bus and was active in the FFA. He married the love of his life Dorothy Lee Miller-Murdoch in 1964.

He loved to go hunting and camping and spend as much time with his family as possible. He would go on to be an assistant manager for CO-OP and ran his own security business, Pedall Inc. Dave also worked for his brother Bill at Eastside Standard, and proudly served the City of Worland for many years until his retirement in 2006.

A man of great knowledge, Dave was always quick to share ideas or contribute to a cause. He was a born leader, Dave severed 2 terms on Washakie County Fair Board and the Worland Jaycees. He volunteered with great honor in the Washakie County Search and Rescue and Worland Volunteer Fire Department for 18 years and during that time was Assistant Chief from 1980 to 1984. Always the forward thinker, Dave was known to be the inventor of modern day Pig Wrestling and was the owner of Chubby Cheeks Livestock and Hog Wrestling. In his final years Dave spent many hours perfecting the art of great barbeque, and sharing it with family and friends. Christmas will never be the same. Dave was a true friend of Santa Clause and spent uncountable hours doing Santa's work and spreading his word.

Dave is proceeded in death by his father William Murdoch, mother Adeline Murdoch, sister Grace Murdoch Miller, brother William B. Murdoch, sister Mary Jane Schmeltzer, and son Robert Douglas Murdoch. He is survived by wife Dorothy, son Roger (Billie) Murdoch of Dayton, MT, daughter Lynn Murdoch (Robert Salinas Sr.), granddaughters Mikaylynn and Raylee Salinas and great grandson Robert David Salinas as well as close friends Joe Godfrey and Jay Moore.

Mass of Christian burial will be held 11:00 am Tuesday, May 3rd at St Mary Magdalen Catholic Church. The vigil prayer service will be Monday evening at 7:00 pm. Burial of his cremains will at a later date. Online condolences may be made at http://www.bryantfuneralhomeonline.com.
