Lady Warrior basketball player signs letter of intent for Laramie County Community College

WORLAND- Worland senior Aubrey Goodrick signed her national letter of intent to play for the Laramie County Community College yesterday morning at Worland High School.

After making history by helping WHS girls basketball win their first state championship, Goodrick will continue making history at the next level.

After laying dormant since 1992, LCCC has rebooted their women's basketball program and Goodrick will be a part of part duex of the LCCC program.

When asked her thoughts on playing basketball at the next level Goodrick said, "I'm excited that I'll get another year to play 'cause I knew I was going to miss it, especially after how we ended the season with a championship."

With wanting to set a good foundation for the future, LCCC head coach Brian Ortmeier had Goodrick in mind as a player who would provide just that. "Obviously when you step into the position and you're starting from scratch. The single most important thing is recruiting and first day on the job I was looking for players from championship teams because you know they come from well coached programs. You also look at their grades, talk to their coaches among other things. Aubrey's grades are where they need to be, she played in a great program and she fits in great with what we want to do on offense and defense. But also the type of player we want representing our program," coach Ortmeier said.

WHS girls head coach Mark Mortimer said, "Aubrey was a varsity player for four years. She worked hard to come back from an ACL injury, which resulted in missing her entire sophomore year, to become an all-around player. She is an outside threat as well as a terrific interior player. Aubrey was a co-captain this year with the other seniors and we will miss her leadership on and off the court."

Now that she's officially a Golden Eagle, Goodrick is looking forward to starting her collegiate basketball career, "It's going to be fun playing for a program that's just starting. This isn't Coach Ortmeier's first time coaching and he's recruited some girls that I know and have played against. So it will be cool to be their teammates instead of playing against them. It's going to be interesting and exciting to see what we can do in our first season."
