Brainstorming branding ideas for Worland

WORLAND – Community branding was the topic of discussion at the Worland Board of Adjustment and Planning Commission (BAPC) meeting at City Hall Thursday afternoon.

BAPC board members discussed the best way to brand the community and what plans need to be taken to get there and invited the Worland-Ten Sleep Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Council to the meeting to share input and ideas.

Worland-Ten Sleep Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Jenn Rasmussen attended the BPAC meeting.

While many ideas were shared the board agreed on one thing: perception is important.

It’s not about how Worland residents see Worland, but how other people perceive Worland in reference to community branding. There needs to be a consistency and unity between branding and all the entities involved under the master plan.

City Planner Ron Vanderpool discussed some interesting techniques and branding videos he found while researching, and while the board responded positively, ultimately, no action was taken on community branding at Thursday afternoon’s meeting.

Master Plan

The implementation of community branding falls under the theme of Community Pride & Character of the action plan and matrix of goals in Appendix B of the Worland Master Plan.

The master plan lists the Wyoming Business Council, Wyoming Economic Development Council and the Wyoming Main Street program as resources to sponsor the effort to develop a unique marketing message for economic development (community branding.)

The goal has a collaborative effort to identify Worland’s value and uniqueness with a deadline to be completed in two to three years after immediate start.

A digital copy of the master plan and all its contents can be found on the City of Worland web page at worlandwy.govoffice3.com.
