Former mayor files

WORLAND – In the first days of filing, only one Washakie County resident has applied for a local government position.

Kreg Lombard, former Worland mayor, applied for the City of Worland mayoral position on May 12, the first filing day.

City Clerk Tracy Glanz said four others took out applications but she doesn’t know what for, and the applications have not been returned.

Eight city council members and one county commissioner have expiring terms in December.

If any interested parties would like to run for city council or county commissioner, including current council/ county members seeking to retain their seats, they can file at city hall from May 12-27. The filing fee is $25 for all offices.

Current Washakie County Commissioner Aaron Anderson previously said his term expires in December, and “At this point and time I plan to rerun for election.”

Washakie County Clerk Mary Grace Strauch said no one has applied for the commissioner position since the filing date and in a conversation with Anderson, he told her he plans to file Tuesday.
