SHERIDAN - The Worland Lady Warriors wasted little time in dispatching the Newcastle Lady Dogies winning 6-0 Saturday afternoon.
Often times matches like these can be traps for talented teams like the Worland team, teams will get caught looking ahead to that championship match and forget to take care of business. Not so for these Lady Warriors as they put their foot to the floor and never looked back.
Sophomore Casey Wassum got it rolling for her team scoring the match's first goal, then seniors Emily Keller and Haley Schneider chipped in goals of their own, giving the Lady Warriors a 3-0 lead at halftime.
"It was incredible, the girls were focused from the get go. They knew what they had to do and took care of business," said coach Danielle Warren.
In the second half junior Hannah Ozmon struck in two goals and Casey Wassum accrued her second goal for the team's sixth score.
Jackson edged out Buffalo 4-3, to setup the third matchup between Worland and Jackson. The two teams split their regular season meetings with Worland winning the latest match 3-1 in Worland on May 6.
Speaking about the championship, coach Warren is relaxed about today's match, "I'm actually at peace, the girls know what they need to do. As I look down our roster so many of these girls have championship experience from this year's past success.
"We're going to be ready to go, the girls are going to take care of business and I have no doubt in my mind these girls will play their best soccer of the season against Jackson."
The Lady Warriors championship match against Jackson will start at 10 a.m. on field 1 at the Big Horn Equestrian Center.
