Irene Mower

Irene Mower was born November, 8, 1921 in Baird, Nebraska the third of seven children born to Alexander and Frieda (Sack) Reiber. She moved to Wyoming in 1937 where her family farmed North of Worland.

She met the love of her life in Worland at Lariette Café in 1941. She wed Nathaniel Don Mower on July 2nd 1942. The couple made their home in Worland where they continued to farm. They welcomed their first child, a daughter, Bonnie, in August of 1943. Soon to follow was daughter Janice in June of 1946 and in April of 1950 son Donald B. and in September of 1951 son David. Tragedy fell on the Mower family in December of 1954 as David had been born with a congenital heart disease and died from complications of that, along with pneumonia on January 1st 1955. Irene, being a strong German woman, carried on for her family.

Irene and her husband bought their first and only home in town in 1971 which she took pride in.

Irene spent her days taking care of her grandchildren along with spending countless hours tending to her many flower beds and rose bushes. She loved making her flowerbeds look gorgeous!

In July of 1978 she lost her husband and she again carried on for her family.

She loved to play bingo, which was one of her many passions. She went on countless trips to Vegas, Reno, and Wendover. More recently not a trip to Riverton went by without stopping at the casino. She loved her coffee any time of the day and never had enough salt to please her.

She will be deeply missed by her family and close friends.

Irene was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Frieda Williams, her brothers, Alexander, Bill, Albert, Harold, & Henry Reiber, her husband Nathaniel "Don" Mower and her son David. Her daughter, Bonnie passed away just 2 days after Irene.

Irene is survived by her children, Janice (Bob) Hance of Worland, Donald B. (Faye) Mower of Twin Falls, ID, son-in-law, Jim Ruffing of Worland, 11 Grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, 5 great- great-grandchildren, a special niece Cheryl Elfring of Casper Wyoming and Barbie Brookwell, her hairdresser, whom became a special friend.

Funeral services will be held in conjunction with her daughter Bonnie on Friday June 10, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with her grandson Pastor Don D. Mower officiating the services. Burial will follow at the Riverview Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Worland. Visitation for family and friends will be 7:00 p.m. Thursday, June 9 at Bryant Funeral Home Chapel.
