Rex Gunnell Hunter died Friday, June 3, 2016 at the Worland Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center. He was born on April 28, 1930 in Shelly, Idaho to Adam and Emma (Hill) Hunter.
Rex was the seventh of nine children and grew up in the Idaho Falls, Idaho area. He moved to Worland where he met the love of his life, Dona Harkins. Following service in the military he returned to Worland and married Dona on April 19, 1953 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They settled in Worland and raised a family of seven children. Rex's children and grandchildren will always be the love of his life. He was deeply respected by those who knew him best for his dedication and hard work as a parent, friend and neighbor.
Rex was employed the majority of his adult life by Dowell as a field engineer until his retirement in 1992. Rex participated in bowling leagues and coached Babe Ruth Baseball. He enjoyed all sports and especially enjoyed attending sporting events of his children and grandchildren. Rex was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in the Billings, Montana Temple.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, brothers, Vee, Jack, Commie, Forrest and Vaughn; by his sisters, Eldoris and Rita.
Survivors include his sister, Darlene (Bob) Nave of Alpine, Utah, children, Don (Becky) Hunter of Fort Collins, CO, Ted of Bethany, OK, Tim (Joanne) of Rock Springs, WY, Bob Hunter, Joe (Deneen) Hunter all of Worland, Laura Schneider, Susan (Scott) Dewey all of Green River, WY, twenty-three grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 11, 2016 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Stake Center in Worland. Burial will follow at Riverview Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Military Honors provided by American Legion Post #44.
