SHERIDAN — The Wolf Creek fire, located on the Tongue Ranger District about 12 miles west of Sheridan, is at 75 percent containment.
Containment efforts were hindered by the steep, rocky terrain, making it very difficult and unsafe for firefighters on the ground. Heavy helicopter water drops helped keep the one-acre fire from increasing in size. Firefighters will continue to patrol and monitor the fire.
The lightning-caused Wolf Creek fire was reported July 11.
