Clyde Walter “Swede” Harvey, passed away two days before his 98th birthday. He died Monday, July 18, 2016 in Cody, Wyoming.
Born at home on July 20, 1918, he was the son of Newton Isaac “Newt” and Eve (Bussard) Harvey.
On December 14, 1940 he married Wilma Rose English in Lovell, WY. The couple purchased a farm five miles north of Thermopolis near Swede’s family. They had two children. Swede, also known as “Buster”, did custom dirt work, farmed and ranched.
Other than his large extended family, his loves were hunting and working with horses. Still working with horses at the age of 87, he and his horses moved to Texas to live with grandson, Todd Harvey. In July 2007 he moved to Cody to live with his daughter, Leona McClellan until his death.
Preceding him in death were his parents; five siblings; wife, Wilma; son, Walter Douglas Harvey; daughter-in-law, Melody; granddaughter, Brenda Flinn, and son-in-law, Brad McClellan. Loved ones remaining are his sister-in-law, Olga Harvey; daughter, Leona, Cody, WY; grandchildren, Todd and Paul (Nicki) Harvey, Bill Flinn, and Michelle (Dave) Smith; great, grandchildren, Stephen (Chelsie) Flinn, Jessica (Chris) Weber, Jacob Harvey, Chloe and Hamish Smith; and great, great grandchildren, Jaxon, Cejaye and Kashtyn Flinn and Ryker Weber.
Funeral services will be Friday, July 29, 10:30 AM at the First Baptist Church in Thermopolis with Pastor Harvey Seidel officiating. Burial will follow at Monument Hill Cemetery.
