Karate kids bring home the gold

CASPER - Alo Kenpo/Jujitsu students competed at the Wyoming State Games karate tournament held in Casper Aug. 13. Alo Kenpo/jujitsu students brought home eight gold, five silver and three bronze medals in sparring, forms, breaking and weapons.

Results from instructor Albert Vigil are as follows:

-Brayden Davila, gold in breaking, bronze in weapons and bronze in sparring.

-Aaron Vigil, gold in sparring, gold in forms gold in weapons and gold in breaking.

-Ethan Damiano, gold in forms, gold in breaking and silver in weapons.

-Lexy Davila, bronze in sparring and silver in breaking.

-Chloe Davila, silver in sparring and gold in breaking.

-A.C. Vigil, silver in breaking and silver in sparring.

Albert Vigil said the students are pretty consistent in the success at the Games.

"They did really well. I was pretty impressed. If they don't do well in one area they pick it up in the next. They don't get upset," he said.

State Games of America

The Worland Karate School qualified the six students to represent Wyoming at the 2017 State Games of America held on August 3-6 2017 in Grand Rapids Mich.

In order to qualify for nationals a participant must earn a medal in the two years leading up to the State Games of America. The State Games of America is held biennially.
