Few filing for school board positions

WORLAND – Filing for the combined seven school board positions open in Washakie County School District No. 1 and Washakie County School District No. 2 is slow with only two people having filed at this time.

Of the three four-year terms open for the Washakie County School District No. 2, currently held by members Terril Mills, Dan Rice and Chuck Powell, only Dan Rice has filed.

Tessia Greet was appointed in February 2015, replacing Becky Cooper who resigned in the middle of her four-year term. Anyone interested in filling this seat will fill out the rest of the term through 2018, at which time the seat will once again become a four-year term. Greet has filed to retain this seat.

No one has filed at this time for the three four-year terms open for the Washakie County School District No. 1, currently held by Susan Scheuerman, Julie Hann and David Tommerup.

Board members wishing to retain their seat or interested persons need to file with the Washakie County Clerk’s Office by Aug. 29 at 5 p.m. Filing began Aug. 10.
