Serving the Big Horn Basin for over 100 years
Robert (Bob) Lee Hance passed away on August 19, 2016 in Casper, Wyoming at Wyoming Medical Center he was surrounded by his wife, children and grandchildren. Bob was born on May 2, 1943 in Oak Park, Illinois to Floyd and Mary Irene (LeBold) Hance. He was the 2nd of 3 sons. At the age of 8, Bob moved with his family to Compton California, where he grew up.
Bob was never afraid to work even as a teenager in California he worked two jobs. He helped his parents with their finances and helped to raise and support his younger brother.
In October of 1968 he met the woman who became the love of his life, Janice Mower. Though Bob had two previous failed marriages the saying held true of 3rd times a charm. Janice and Bob were married a few months later, March 8th, 1969. A marriage that would survive their vows of richer or poorer, sickness and health, good times and bad times. Together they survived and lived happily for 47 and a half years together. During those 47 and ½ years they raised 4 children, helped with 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Bob always was on the go he worked 3 jobs when his children were young, when the asbestos finally got to him and he retired in 1990, he didn't slow down he immediately became a volunteer at The Victims of Violence Center (crisis center) where he helped many many women and men through difficult times, he also delivered meals on wheels, and spent endless hours at the Worland Eagles helping with dinners, luncheons and count money and keep books. When asked why he volunteered roughly 60 hours a week, he said because life was about giving not taking. He once quoted "those who have the least give the most, those who have everything generally give nothing" This held true as Bob and Jan helped countless people and would give their last dollar to someone that needed it. Bob was always proud of the family he was given and loved to be around them as much as possible.
Bob was a member for quite a few years of the Elks, Worland Odd fellows, Sons Of The American Legion, He was most proud of his 47 years of commitment to the Worland Eagles where he was Past President, and a Golden Eagle. Besides countless hours of volunteering, Bob loved to gamble, play bingo, and hang out with his grandchildren.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents, his father and mother in-law Nathaniel Don and Irene Mower, his eldest son, Russell Lee Hance, his sister in-law Bonnie Ruffing, and his nephew Raymond Lee Hance.
