Serving the Big Horn Basin for over 100 years

Stanley Glenn Keeler

Stanley Glenn Keeler, 79, went home to his Heavenly Father on August 20, 2016.

Stan was born on April 23, 1937 in Larned, Kansas, a son of Mary Margaret (Magers) and Glenn Virgil Keeler. He was raised in the Stafford, Kansas area and graduated from high school in Stafford. He then attended a college in Pratt, Kansas for one year.

After college Stan began working as a truck mechanic by working for Whitlock Trucking in Gillette, WY. During this time he married his best friend and the love of his life, Barbara Jean Benzel, in Sidney, Nebraska on June 18, 1960. The couple made their home in Gillette until Stan took a job with Halliburton Services in Kimball, Nebraska in 1962.

They transferred to Sterling, Colorado in 1972, then to Rock Springs, Wyoming in 1974. In 1976 they moved to Colorado briefly before transferring to Worland in January 1978 when he became the shop foreman for the Halliburton Services. He retired from the company in 1992 after 30 years with the company.

A devout Christian since the age of 10, he helped to start the Big Horn Independent Baptist Church in Worland in 1979. He was still an active member when he passed away. He was extremely devoted to the Lord, and that devotion was displayed in every aspect of his life. Stan was also devoted to his wife in such a way that is unmeasurable.

Stan was a devoted family man, and loved to have his grandchildren with him as he and Barbara had them in their home nearly every day for 10 years as they were growing up. He would always lovingly tease and play jokes on them, which brought them all closer together.

He enjoyed fishing, hiking, traveling, bird watching, playing with his dog Harley, and camping. He enjoyed being the "Camp Host" for the Medicine Lodge Campground for several years.

He was preceded in death by his father, and by his son Scott Keeler who died in 1979.

Stan is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Barbara Keeler of Worland; by his daughter Shannon Keeler of Worland who he dearly loved, and his loving granddaughters Taylor Fulfer and Makayla Fulfer both of Worland. He is also survived by his mother Mary Keeler and his brother Kim (Jodelle) Keeler both of Kimball, NE; and by a host of nieces, nephews, and several brother and sister-in-laws whom he thought so much of.

The funeral service will be held at Zion Lutheran Church on Wednesday, August 24th, at 11:00 AM with Pastor Jerry Johnson of Salt Lake City officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Worland.

Memorials may be made to the fund of the donor's choice.

Veile Mortuary is assisting with the arrangements.
