Simmons still at it on the golf course

WORLAND - Trying to get in as much golf as he can before the first snowfall Worland youth golfer Karsten Simmons played in another leg of the Rocky Mountain Junior Golf Tour in Longmont, Colo., at the Twin Peaks golf club on Sept. 3 - 4.

From the start, Simmons was locked in shooting a 72 on day one, 71 on day two for a total of 143 and only three over par. Simmons' score earned him first place but was also the lowest score by any player of all age divisions. Simmons also logged seven birdies for the tournament.

Simmons' father, Randy Simmons, was excited by Karsten's performance. "He played pretty well and avoided costly mistakes. The second day of the tournament he started kind of slow but got it going after four holes. He made some mistakes over the tournament but also made an amazing seven birdies which got him first place and also the tournament low score," said Randy Simmons

Randy Simmons also noted how Karsten's play has been drawing the attention of those on the Rocky Mountain Junior Golf Tour.

"We had a guy by the name of Brian Solem with Sniper Shot Marketing approach us after the tournament, said Randy Simmons, "He wanted to know who Karsten's swing coach was and if he could be of any service to us. Brian said with Karsten shooting these kind of scores and playing this way at such a young age that by the time he turns 14 there will be a lot of college coaches beating our door down to sign him with their school. It all sounds real positive and hopefully Karsten continues to grow with the game and continue to really enjoy playing the game he loves."

Randy Simmons also wanted to thank all of those who have helped and supported Karsten along the way, "I would like to give thank against to all of Karsten's family, friend, followers and coaches," said Randy Simmons.

The next tournament for Simmons will be at the Hyland Hills in Westminster, Colo., on Oct.15 - 16.
