Lady Warriors put on a show during first home meet of the season

WORLAND - The Worland High School girls swimming team hosted the Warrior Quad Friday afternoon at the Worland Aquatic Center.

The Quad was also the first home meet of the season, and swimming against Newcastle, Powell and Buffalo, the Lady Warriors looked to put on a show for their family and friends. And put on a show they did.

The Lady Warrior swimmers were either setting personal best times, automatically qualifying for state or shaving seconds off their times. For WHS swimming coach Mike Blissett he was impressed and proud of his team's performance Friday night. "It was pretty spectacular," said coach Blissett. "Basically everyone cut time, we had some personal records, some state qualifiers and it was fun to watch them."

In a day full of achievements coach Blissett did his best to name of each and every swimmer. "Hailey Schumacher cut four seconds in her 200 free, which is amazing, and that's just from last week. Emily Brown had a personal record in the 200 IM, Hannah McEndree AQed in the 200 IM, Emily Montgomery cut four seconds off her 50 free and she's in the 30s now which she's super excited about. Alejandra Rice cut time in the 50 free, Kaci Bentley a personal record in the 50 free and qualifying in the 500 free and Megan Molitor cut time in her 100 free. The relays were phenomenal and there were more swimmers that did excellent but it was just an excellent day," said coach Blissett.

Today the Lady Warriors will be back in the pool for the Powell Invite. The Invite will bring some of the best 3A has to offer and an opportunity for Worland to flex their muscle in the 3A class, "It's going to be a big meet and allow us to go against the best 3A has to offer," said coach Blissett. "Sometimes when you have a good meet like today the next day there's a bit of a letdown. So we set a challenge for them to keep focus and keep the momentum going."
