Serving the Big Horn Basin for over 100 years
WORLAND – The Wyoming Department of Transportation office in Worland held their fourth weekly informational meeting on Tuesday, to address community concerns during an Americans with Disabilities Act improvement project to replace sidewalks and curbs and gutters from 10th to 23rd Street.
Led by WYDOT Project Engineer Jordan Erz, the meetings are designed to share information on the progress of the construction, and consider concerns from local business. No one has showed up for the first four meetings, and Erz has only taken a few calls from busy businesses regarding the scope of the project.
"Nobody has really had any complaints, and the project is ahead of schedule so far, so that's good," said Erz.
Work along Big Horn Avenue has only been halted once for rain, and the contractors worked with the city to make things easier for the Worland High School Homecoming parade last week.
"I would say three-quarters of the stuff has been torn out, so by that measure it's rolling right along," said Erz. "We should have it wrapped up in early November, no problem."
The $1.13 million project will ultimately alleviate existing problems with the main street sidewalks, and provide enhanced support for handicap access.
In conjunction, the City of Worland will be replacing conduit and fixing drainage issues along 15th Street, one block south of Big Horn Avenue.
