Serving the Big Horn Basin for over 100 years
Margaret Ruiz (nee-Colson) passed away on September 30, 2016. She was born on July 15, 1938 in Lovell, Wyoming.
She was a true, local Wyomingite. She spent her early years in Meeteetse, Wyoming until her family moved to Cody, Wyoming. It was there that Margaret graduated from high school with the Class of 1956.
Upon graduation, Margaret attended a business school before taking on a variety of progressive business assignments in Wyoming, including front desk positions and clerkships. A move to Sun Valley, Idaho with her then-husband was her next stop. She never let go of her love for Wyoming, nor her commitment to her family.
A return to Wyoming brought her, quickly, to a position at McGarvin-Moberly Construction Co, and then with Montana-Dakota Utilities where she eventually retired in 1989.
During this time, Margaret was a member of St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church. She was a member of the Worland B&PW for years. An avid outdoors woman, she had a passion for skiing, and was an active bowler and golfer. Her down time included reading and watching her favorite shows on TV.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents Alvera M. (Christman) and Bernis E. "Gene" Colson, and her siblings Kenneth, Roberta, Thomas, and Patty Catsimanes (nee- Colson).
She is survived by her daughter Michelle "Elle" Chaseton (nee-Ruiz); and by her grandchildren Sydney and Ryder; and by her nieces and nephews- Teresa and Laurie Catsimanes, and Connie and David Colson.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Washakie County Library Foundation – 1019 Coburn Avenue - Worland, Wyoming 82401 would be greatly appreciated.
Cremation has taken place and her ashes will be buried in the Colson family plot in Riverview Cemetery in Worland in the spring of 2017.
Veile Mortuary is assisting the family with the arrangements.
