Hospital construction update

More space required between sinks and toilets

WORLAND – Hospital renovations and security were discussed at the Washakie Medical Center Board of Trustees meeting on Thursday night.

Brad McCaslin, with Banner Health Development and Construction, gave an updated schedule for hospital renovation completion dates and discussed a minor setback.

Bathrooms in the patient rooms are non-compliant according to state regulations. Regulations require sinks and toilets to be 30 inches apart and upon inspection, it was discovered they were ranging from 25 to 27 inches apart.

McCaslin said the sinks will be replaced with corner sinks to ensure the correct amount of space will be there to comply with state regulations.

CEO of Washakie Medical Center Jay Stallings said to replace the sinks will cost $35,000. “It was an unforeseen issue,” Stallings said, adding that they will factor it into contingency funds.

Completion dates for the operating room are set for December 2016, completion for the entry/lobby renovations are set for July 2017 and the lab/pharmacy renovations are set for completion in September 2017.

A memorandum from Plant Operations Manager Mark Schlattmann was reviewed at the meeting and he wrote, “Banner Security will be here the week of Nov. 14 to install more of the card access system in the new construction. At that time they should be able to install the card readers for the materials management doors.”
