"We had a good day," said WHS coach Mike Blissett. "We had phenomenal drops in time. Kaci Bentley cut 25 seconds in the 500-yard freestyle and is seeded fourth in the final. She also cut three seconds in 200-yard freestyle and made the finals as the sixth seed. Juli Warren dropped a second and a half in 100-yard breaststroke and thee seconds in 200 IM. Kristen Collingwood dropped two second in 100-yard butterfly and three seconds in 200-yard free. Ellyse Russell is seeded first in 50-yard freestyle and dropped half second in 100-yard freestyle and she seeded second in that race."

Coach Blissett continued to list his team's highlights from Friday. "The 200-yard relay team is seeded third and the 400-yard freestyle relay is seeded first. Kyra Klinghagen enters the diving finals in the ninth seed and Megan Molitor squeaked in the 11th seed in the 100-yard breaststroke," said Blissett.

With the team's performance on day one coach Blissett is eager to see his team close out the season strong, "The girls have more to give and to improve in time and places. They have spots where they can overtake other swimmers. So we're looking for them to hold their places or do better.

"(Today's) atmosphere is going to be electric, there will be a lot of exciting races and I can't wait to see what these girls do, it's going to be a blast," said Blissett.

The second and final day of the 3A State meet will begin at 10 a.m. at the Aquatic Center in Gillette.
