Serving the Big Horn Basin for over 100 years
WORLAND – Thanks to the Ten Sleep Baptist Church and community members there is no reason to spend Thanksgiving alone this year. The Ten Sleep Baptist Church is hosting Thanksgiving dinner around noon Thursday with food donations from church goers and non-church goers alike.
People from the community are donating turkeys, hams and pies, all sorts of stuff, Cris Powell, wife of Ten Sleep Baptist Church Pastor Chuck Powell, said.
“People who don’t have family here or anyone who wants to come is welcome to have their Thanksgiving dinner at the church and sit and talk or play games after. It’s a chance to be with somebody on Thanksgiving Day instead of being alone,” coordinator Betty Jo Stiffney said in an earlier interview.
Everyone bringing a dish will meet at the Ten Sleep Baptist church at 11 a.m. on Thanksgiving to make to-go boxes for residents who are shut-in or people who don’t want to come out. “If there is anybody who isn’t a shut-in but doesn’t want to come down, that’s fine. We will bring the meals to basically anybody who would like a meal,” Powell stated. The sit down meal will be after all the to-go meals have been delivered, she added.
Last year the Ten Sleep Baptist church had about 20 people attend. People who don’t regularly attend church and people from other congregations sat down and shared the meal together, Powell stated.
“It was really cool,” she added.
