Mitchell Aagard receives the Army Meritorious Service Medal
CAMP GUERNSEY JOINT TRAINING CENTER — Sergeant Mitchell Aagard of Worland, a member of the Wyoming Army National Guard’s A Battery, 2nd Battalion, 300th Field Artillery received the Army Meritorious Service Medal Nov. 19.
Aagard was awarded for outstanding performance as an acting section chief on a High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS) during his recent deployment to Afghanistan. A Battery commander 1st Lt. Zachary Jerry presented the award.
Aagard has been a member of the Wyoming National Guard for nine years, and is a HIMARS launcher gunner. His civilian employer is Washakie Electric in Worland, where he works as an electrician.
“Sgt. Aagard stepped up as the action HIMARS section chief and always went above and beyond to get the job done,” said acting 1st Sgt. Samuel Cates.
Wesley Short receives the Army Achievement Medal
CAMP GUERNSEY JOINT TRAINING CENTER — Spc. Wesley Short of Worland, a member of the Wyoming Army National Guard’s A Battery, 2nd Battalion, 300th Field Artillery received the Army Achievement Medal Nov. 19.
Short was recognized for being selected as the honor graduate from his advanced individual training. He is a High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS) launcher driver. A Battery commander 1st Lt. Zachary Jerry presented the award.
Short has been a member of the Wyoming National Guard for three years, and is pursuing a degree at Sheridan College.
“Specialist Short is a hard worker and contributes greatly to the mission of A Battery,” said acting 1st Sgt. Samuel Cates.
