Four earn state championships

WORLAND – The Worland High School Drama Club made themselves and their coach proud at the state competition last weekend in Laramie, earning the highest score the team has ever received with four team members bringing home individual state championships

"So proud of these guys, and thankful for the chance to work with them," Worland High School Drama coach Rick Dorn stated.

Jamon Dower earned a state championship in costume design. Matthew Sanchez earned a state championship in fantasy make-up. Dalen Brazelton earned a state championship in humorous duet and Sariah Durrant earned a state championship in fantasy make-up and humorous duet.

Worland High School senior, Sariah Durrant has won every year of her high school career, once for costume design, twice in fantasy make-up and twice for humorous duet Dorn said.

According to Dorn the students placed as follows:

The entire cast of Coney Island Christmas was named either all-state or honorable mention and the play finished fourth overall.

The entire cast of Connections was named either all-state or honorable mention and the play finished third overall.

Students earning all-state honors in any event included: Sullie-Ann Keuntjes, Rachael Carver, Dalen Brazelton, Dominic Damiano, Sariah Durrant, Courtney Woolery, Mackenzie Cottrell, Andrew Drake, David Stockwell, Delanie Campbell, Nyah Campbell, Saibrynn Crippen, Clare Neylon, Madisyn Boltz, Elizabeth McIntosh, Izabella McTague, Jamon Dower, Morgan Pennington, Matthew Sanchez and Gracie Macy. Many of these students earned more than one All-State.

In solo musical: Saibrynn Crippen, Mackenzie Cottrell and Sariah Durrant were named superior and qualified for national competition.

In group musical: Dalen Brazelton, Dominic Damiano, Chris Nicholas, Nathaniel Nelson and Dane Bennett were named superior and qualified for national competition.

In costume design: Jamon Dower finished first, Morgan Pennington finished third and Madisyn Boltz finished fourth.

In lighting design: Rachael Carver finished second and Ben Dorn finished second.

In publicity design: Dalen Brazelton finished fourth, Ben Dorn finished fifth and Madisyn Boltz finished sixth.

In fantasy make-up: Sariah Durrant and Matthew Sanchez finished first and Elizabeth McIntosh finished third.

In humorous monologue: Mackenzie Cottrell finished third and Sariah Durrant finished fifth.

In humorous duet: Sariah Durrant and Dalen Brazelton finished first and Dominic Damiano and Courtney Woolery finished third.

In dramatic duet: Racheal Carver and Sullie-Ann Keuntjes finished third.

Students qualifying for the national competition will not be competing this year due to scheduling conflicts and a not having enough club funds.
