They want a congress and president who are accountable to the people. They expect elected representatives to uphold and defend the constitution and make sure we live within our means. I’m honored to be able to serve the people of Wyoming on these important committees where we can begin to undo the damage of the last eight years, bring economic growth and jobs back to Wyoming, and ensure we do everything necessary to keep America safe.”
House Chairman of Natural Resources Rob Bishop (UT-01) spoke regarding Congressman Cheney’s appointment saying, “I’m excited to welcome Rep. Cheney to our team. From her days in the State Department as an expert in U.S. Policy in the Middle East, to her critical advocacy work on Constitutional authority, as well as her dedication to helping veterans in her community, she has gained important insight and knowledge about some of the most pressing issues facing our nation. I have no doubt that Congresswoman Cheney will be an exceptional new Member of Congress and bring tremendous value to the important work that we do at the Rules Committee.”
Cheney took office Jan. 3, 38 years after her father, Dick Cheney, first became Wyoming’s lone congressman. Liz Cheney beat Democrat Ryan Greene of Rock Springs by a more than 2-to-1 margin in November.
She replaced Rep. Cynthia Lummis, who has retired after four terms. Lummis was a member of the Natural Resources; Oversight and Government Reform; and Science, Space and Technology committees.
