Mary A. Worrall

Mary A. Worrall

passed away at Washakie Medical Center in Worland, Wyoming on Monday, February 13, 2017 after a long battle with Parkinson's disease. Mary was born on July 17, 1927 to Fritz Pearson and Myrtle Rector Pearson in Mullen, Nebraska. She attended and graduated from Mullen High School. After graduation, Mary moved to Torrington, Wyoming and worked for Farmer's National Bank and Bloedorn Lumber. It was in Torrington that she met John A. Worrall and they were married there on January 10, 1952. On October 17, 1952, John and Mary had a son, John P. Worrall, their only child. They had just celebrated their 65th Wedding Anniversary before her death.

After her marriage to John, Mary became a full time homemaker. She was very involved in John's career with Holly Sugar Corporation as they moved to virtually every city or town that had a Holly Factory. This included moves to Garden City, Kansas; Torrington(three times); Hardin, Montana; Worland, Wyoming; Tracy, California; Colorado Springs, Colorado and then to Sheridan, Wyoming where they lived until they relocated to Worland 10 years ago. At each and every one of these places Mary made close friends and she always kept in touch with them after moving. Although moving was not ever easy, she always found a way to make a new community her home and she always had close friends when she left.

Mary had numerous activities and hobbies over the years. She was a prolific letter writer and regularly corresponded with the numerous friends that she had met along the way. She enjoyed entertaining and was an excellent cook, always looking for new recipes and techniques to try. She passed on her love of cooking to her son John. Mary was an accomplished cribbage player and bested both her husband and son in this card game on a regular basis. She liked to go walking with her friends, read all of the time and she lovingly turned each of her many houses into a home.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers John (Norma), Bill (Norma) and Donald (Marjorie), and her sister Marlene (Dean) Marshall. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, John A. Worrall of Worland, her son, John P. Worrall (Tracy) of Worland, her granddaughter Lindsey (David) Garcia of Cheyenne, Wyoming, grandson Eli Worrall of Laramie, Wyoming and her great grandson, Javier Drew Garcia of Cheyenne, Wyoming. She is also survived by her youngest sister Helen (Vern) Dent of Mullen, Nebraska and numerous nieces and nephews and their children.

John and Mary determined that there will be no formal service, however, the family will gather at a later date to celebrate her life and inter her cremains. Veile Mortuary is entrusted with all arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Mary's behalf to the Washakie County Library. Mary was a loving Wife, Mother and Grandmother. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
