Donovan "Don" Sorrick

Memorial grave side services for Donovan “Don” Sorrick, 68, will be held at noon on Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at the Valley View Cemetery with Pastor Jon Norwood officiating. Military honors will be by the US Navy. Don died March 14, 2017 at the VA Hospital in Cheyenne, Wyoming and cremation has taken place. Arrangements are under the direction of the Colyer Funeral Home.

Don was born December 31. 1948 in Torrington, Wyoming the son of Donovan and Edith (McVay) Sorrick Sr. They lived in Guernsey, Wyoming until he was ten years old when the moved to Torrington. He graduated Torrington High School and then attended CNA training in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. He entered the US Navy where he became an electrician and served on the USS Kitty Hawk an aircraft carrier. He returned to Torrington to attend college and then started work at Holly Sugar as an electrician. When the factory cut back he worked for a contractor and then went to Worland, Wyoming to work as an electrician in the sugar factory there. He was able to pass the test to become a Master Electrician. He later retired due to health reasons.

Don liked rocks, tinkering in his shop at different jobs, hunting and fishing. He was a member of the VFW.

Don is survived by his wife Susan of LaGrange, Wyoming; children Ryan (Shanna) Sorrick of Casper, Wyoming, Jason (Anna) Sorrick of Worland, Wyoming, Blair (Garren) Gift of LaGrange, Nels (Brittany) Frazier of Laramie, Wyoming and Michael (Dawn) McKown of Harrisburg, Nebraska; brothers Rusty (Marcelle) Sorrick of Torrington, Wyoming and Scott (Vickie Nass) of Behel, Minnesota; and nine grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings Sylvia DuVall, David Howard, and Bee May Detwiller.
