Donna Jean Moore, 80, passed away Saturday, April 29, 2017 at her residence in Thermopolis, surrounded by family after a short battle with cancer.
Born February 13, 1937 in Sturgis, South Dakota, she was the daughter of George and Inez (Anderson) Blake. She graduated from Sturgis High School.
She married Jerry Merritt and to this union was born five children. The couple moved to Thermopolis in 1967. Mr. Merritt died in 1968 in a car accident.
Donna later married Gene Moore and the couple resided in Thermopolis until 1992, at which time they moved to Ft. Peck, Montana where they established a resort/marina business. In 2016 Donna returned to Thermopolis to be near family.
Donna enjoyed horseback riding, bowling, cooking, fishing and boating.
Those cherishing her memory are her sisters, Carol Filkey of Thermopolis and Shirley Remington of Sturgis, SD; son, Brad Merritt of Thermopolis and stepson, Brian Moore of Cody; daughters, JaDee Harvey of Worland, Sherry Bender of Camas, WA and Ty Stuart of Thermopolis; twelve grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, infant daughter, Tyrene, and her first husband, Jerry.
Memorial services will be Friday, 10:30 AM at the River of Life Church with Pastor Joe Moon officiating. Casual wear is suggested. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery.
