HELENA, Mont. (AP) — Vice President Mike Pence is planning to visit Billings on Friday to help fellow Republican Greg Gianforte stump for votes ahead of the May 25 special election to fill Montana’s only seat in the U.S. House.
The Gianforte campaign says the vice president will headline a 6 p.m. fundraiser at the MetraPark pavilion.
Pence’s visit injects further star power to the race.
On Thursday, the president’s son, Donald Trump Jr., will visit again after campaigning last month for Gianforte.
Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont is expected to visit later this month on behalf of Democrat Rob Quist.
Libertarian Mark Wicks also is vying to fill the seat vacated by Ryan Zinke, who resigned to become U.S. Interior secretary.
