Eva LaVonne Pennoyer, 88, passed away Thursday, May 18, 2017 at Hot Springs County Memorial Hospital in Thermopolis.
Born August 17, 1928 in Ten Sleep, Wyoming, she was the daughter of Arnold and Mary (Jones) Waln. After high school, LaVonne attended Northwest College in Powell, WY where she acquired a teaching degree. Teaching at Anchor School on Owl Creek for four years, she met her future husband, Stanley George Pennoyer. They were married in 1950 in Worland, WY. The couple lived on Owl Creek, outside Thermopolis, their entire lives.
In the early 1950s they purchased their own ranch and started a family-operated big game outfitting business, Pennoyer Outfitting. LaVonne was the cook for the hunters and guides.
She enjoyed cooking, sewing and crocheting. She was a member of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church. Active in BPOE Does, she received a 50 year pin. She was also a 4-H leader and a member of Hot Springs County Cowbelles for many years.
Loved ones remaining include her son, Arnold and his wife, Donna, and granddaughter, Jessie, all of Thermopolis; sister, Mary Elizabeth Geis of Worland and several nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Stan, in 2011.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Senior Citizen Center, 206 Sr.Ave. or the FFA Alumni, P.O.Box 582, Thermopolis, 82443.
