Colorado felon faces extradition after evading police

WORLAND – A Colorado felon wanted on multiple drug charges escaped from local law enforcement officials on May 22, was caught in Hot Springs County and is awaiting extradition to Colorado.

On the evening of May 22, at approximately 9:05 p.m., county officers attempted to arrest Kerr on a Colorado warrant for contempt of court and drug activity, when the fugitive escaped on foot and swam across a canal along West River Road and disappeared.

After being observed by county law enforcement through the use of night vision devices, Kerr was not spotted again until the morning of May 23, when an officer spotted Kerr on property he had been known to stay at when in Washakie County. A subsequent search of a camper trailer on the property found drug paraphernalia and controlled substances.

After capture by Hot Springs County authorities on May 25, Kerr was brought back to Washakie County to be arraigned on one count of interfering with a peace officer.

Kerr pled guilty on May 25, and was sentenced to 60 days in jail (59 suspended) and one-year supervised probation.

Kerr will next be extradited to Colorado to face charges for failure to appear for probation, and felony delivery of methamphetamine.
