Local truck driver recognized for safe driving

Nearly 4 millions miles over nearly 40 years with no accidents

WORLAND – During the 78th annual Wyoming Trucking Association convention on May 19, in Casper, Admiral Transport Corp. of Worland truck driver Bill Reed was recognized as the fourth quarter 2016 driver for driving professionally for nearly 40 years, with nearly 4 million miles under his belt and no accidents.

“Bill is one of our most professional drivers and it was an honor to see him get recognized for everything he has done, not just for that quarter but the years that he has devoted to driving for Admiral Transport and Admiral Beverage Corporation.

“He’s one of our few go-to people that we send new drivers to when they need information and he’s a highly respected and very intelligent driver,” Admiral Transport Corp. Transportation Operation Specialist Bart Richardson said.

When issuing the award, the presenter explained to those attending why Reed was chosen to receive the fourth quarter 2016 driver: “Bill hauls soda, beer and dunnage in a line haul operation. He attends all company safety meetings and briefs safety concerns he is aware of and issues he has observed. He has shown exceptional service to the trucking industry. He is courteous, safe and ever watchful of the traveling public, ensuring his equipment is properly inspected and safe to operate on our highways. Mr. Reed is the epitome of the professional truck driver, pulling flatbeds, tankers, vans and doubles for nearly 40 years covering nearly four million miles without a reportable accident.

“Bill is a stickler for safety. He corrects situations when he observes errors being made, performs in-depth pre-and post-trip equipment inspections and is virtually flawless with his logging. Follow-up of his logs uncovered only two errors in the most recent 180 logs.

“He is an avid Harley Davidson rider, exercise enthusiast and a member of the First Baptist Church in Worland.”

According to a press release, the Wyoming Trucking Association honors professional drivers for their outstanding record of courtesy, safety and heroism on the state’s highways.
