WORLAND — Two 10-year-old friends will spend an afternoon and early evening Wednesday trying to raise funds and awareness of the many animals available for adoption at New Horizons Care Center.
Audra Neighbors and Aubree Kruger volunteer at New Hope Humane Society walking the dogs and spending time with the cats to help them socialize.
On Wednesday, at 4 p.m. at the start of the bike/walking path at Washakie and 15th, they will set up a lemonade/bake sale stand to raise funds for the New Hope Humane Society.
According to Audra’s mother, Kami Neighbors, the girls, who will enter fifth grade this fall, spent one day last week visiting the animals in the shelter, taking pictures, and writing information about them including which ones are good with children, which ones like to snuggle, which ones like to play. They will share this information on posters at their lemonade stand and encourage people to adopt a pet or donate their time to the shelter.
Neighbors said the two friends have been planning this for a year, after doing a small lemonade stand about two years ago.
“They are hoping to raise a lot of money for the animals, and to get lots of animals adopted,” Neighbors said.
