Medicine Wheel Ranger District plans prescribed burn near Mathews Ridge

GREYBULL — Medicine Wheel Ranger District firefighters plan to conduct a prescribed burn project in the Mathews Ridge area on Tuesday, July 11. Mathews Ridge is located about 10 miles northeast of Hyattville.

If conditions are favorable, fewer than 10 acres of decadent sagebrush will be burned to improve holding lines for the main prescribed burn scheduled in the fall. The fall project is planned to improve forage for domestic livestock and forage and habitat for wildlife.

Smoke may be visible to travelers in the immediate area and from Hyattville throughout the day.
