WORLAND — Two noise ordinance waiver requests were approved by the Worland City Council Tuesday night for August events.
During the regular meeting, the council approved a request from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for a youth dance on Aug. 11 from 7:30 to 11:30 p.m. in the church parking lot. Youth from stakes in Worland, Cody, Gillette and Lovell are coming.
The youth were asked to notify neighbors in advance about the noise.
The council approved a request for the second Battle of the Bands in the Rumors parking lot, Aug. 18 from 5 p.m. to midnight. Last year the Battle of the Bands was during the day at the Worland Community Center Complex. This year the event has been moved from Saturday to Friday night and moved to the Rumors parking lot.
Clerk Tracy Glanz reported that according to the written request from Tim Hislop of Rumors, he has spoken to neighbors about overflow parking.
The council also approved a request from the Pepsi Wyoming Championship BBQ and Bluegrass Festival Aug. 18-19 and brewfest Aug. 17 for additional dumpsters and picnic tables.
Councilor Mandy Horath asked that tables be returned as soon as possible to the parks since Worland is anticipating additional tourists for the eclipse Aug. 21.
Public Works Superintendent Brian Burky noted that the city has a shortage of extra dumpsters so they may only be able to provide four additional dumpsters for the event.
