CHEYENNE — The Wyoming Patrol provides some tips for motorists as the 2017 Solar Eclipse event quickly approaches.
No oversize/overweight loads will be permitted in or through Wyoming from Sunday, Aug. 20 through Tuesday, Aug. 22. Oversized loads cannot travel during that time period even with a permit in hand.
The eclipse will take place on Monday, Aug. 21.
Other tips from the WHP include:
• Be prepared for distracted drivers.
• Traffic volumes are expected to create travel congestion particularly along I-25.
• Food and fuel are likely to be limited. Plan accordingly before traveling through the eclipse route.
• Cell phone coverage may also be limited.
• No parking is permitted along the highways.
According to a WHP press release, they encourage eclipse watchers to arrive early to their destination and stay late to avoid potential traffic congestion.
