Lawrence Louis Dean, 83-year-old Worland resident, passed away on July 30, 2017 at the Washakie Medical Center in Worland.
Lawrence was born on July 2, 1934 in Worland, Wyoming, second of eight children born to Cecil Adrian and Alice Irene (Brosh) Dean. He received his early education in Kane, Wyoming. The family then moved to Basin before returning to Worland. He met Charlotte May Holdren on a group date at the movies, weeks later on July 22, 1952 the couple were wed in Thermopolis. To this union three children were born, Elizabeth Kay, Lawrence Leroy and Pamala Ann.
Lawrence owned and operated Dean Drilling for over 20 years, retiring in 1992. Upon retiring, he and Charlotte became snowbirds, wintering in Wickenburg, Arizona. It was here that he enjoyed gold prospecting, poker, fishing, visiting friends and telling stories.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, James and sister, Mary Romans.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 66 years, Charlotte; son, Lawrence "Larry" Dean of Worland; daughters, Elizabeth Kay (Duane) Lance of Thermopolis, WY, Pamala Ann (Johnny) Portillo of Saratoga, WY; grandchildren, Lana Elder of Saratoga, Devon (B.J.) Reinert of Centenial, CO; great-grandchildren, Maggie and Ryland; brother, Earnest (Sandy) Dean of Wasila, Alaska; sisters, Joan Cagle of Galveston, TX, Ethel Cozad of Basin, WY, Judy (Ron) Roos of Thorton, CO, Ellen (Wally) Firor of Tonapah, AZ, and many nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held 3:00 P.M. on August 3, 2017 at Riverview Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the donor's choice. Online condolence may be made at http://www.bryantfuneralhomeonline.com.
