Rain does not deter volleyball players from enjoying tournament
WORLAND - The rain tried to put a damper on the 2017 Kris Sheaff Memorial Volleyball tournament Saturday morning and failed to do so as the teams and players enjoyed the competition from start to finish.
Before the start of the tournament George and Carol Sheaff announced their scholarship winners, while their granddaughter, Brooklyn Sheaff, presented the scholarships to Mackenzie Cottrell and Lyndzi Rich.
Afterward, the tournament was on and 11 teams battled for the championship. The final team left standing was the McBallers who defeated Team Mackenzie in the championship.
"We had a pretty good turnout, the weather ended up cooperating, after a while and it was plenty warm and muggy, and I think that everyone enjoyed themselves," said tournament organizer Matt Schneider.
For next year's tournament Schneider said they're going to keep to what has been working for them, by holding the tournament on the final Saturday of July, keeping it to a single-day tournament and making sure everyone is having fun.
