4-H specialty awards announced for foods

WORLAND - Specialty awards for the Washakie County 4-H members in foods, preservation and cake decorating were announced Wednesday morning following judging Tuesday at the Washakie County Fair.

Outstanding junior exhibitor was Victoria Shaffer, outstanding intermediate exhibitor was Olivia Shaffer and outstanding senior exhibitor was Jade Hefenieder.

Jarden award winners, for which a member can only win one, went to Madilyn Glanz for fruit and Allison Hampton for pickles and relish. Glanz also won food preservation award for her large variety of water bath foods. Hampton won food preservation award for her pickled peppers.

Hampton earned the award for best use of fair theme, which is "From Pioneer Ways to Modern Days." Glanz won best overall foods exhibitor.

In cake decorating, best of class awards went to Audra Neighbors, Megan Jackson and Jade Hefenieder.

Encouragement Awards were also presented to Jacob Gartrell and Audra Neighbors in the junior division, Katie Baumstarck and Echo Allen in intermediate and Payton Casteel in senior.
