She was a member of the drama club, pep squad and won homecoming queen in her senior year. She married Richard, Dick, Harkins on December 28, 1955. She had been attending St. Luke's Hospital School in Denver. She chose to be a full time wife and mother. Later she became a real estate agent, sold cosmetics and was a high school office assistant.

Betty is preceded in death by her husband Dick Harkins, the love of her life.

Betty is survived by four children; Valari Spence, Dick, Denny and Kevin Harkins; one brother Dick Sheesley; eleven grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and all that were loved by her.

Betty loved her husband, family and the Lord. She gave her all with zest from cleaning the house which sparkled all the way to heaven, to setting the best looking dinner table. She had the gift of being a hostess. She sewed pants for her sons when money was tight then taught her daughter how to sew. She went to all the football games that her husband coached or sons played. She danced with and kissed her husband. She played bridge. She knew exactly how to answer all 6,552 of all their questions. Her love for her children showed in the homemade whole wheat bread and whole wheat carob cakes with honey she made on Birthdays. Everything she did was for the betterment of her family.

You made our home a haven. You filled us with food and positive words, gave us hope and courage to stand firm, reminded us that God loved us and then tucked us into bed. You taught us to pray for your hope was in the Lord. Thank-you Mom for now our hope is in the Lord!
