James (Jim) Edward Pyer Ill

James (Jim) Edward Pyer Ill, 75, of Casper, Wyoming passed away August 27, 2017 at Central Wyoming Hospice in Casper, Wyoming. His children were by his side when he drifted off to be with the Lord. He was born on January 30, 1942 in Youngstown, Ohio to James Edward Pyer Jr., and Eleanor Francis Filbert Pyer. He graduated from Poland Seminary High School On June 5, 1960. He excelled in basketball and baseball during his academic years.

Jim enlisted in the Airforce in 1960 and served four years at SAC air force base in Omaha, Nebraska. He married Betty Jean Wagner on January 12, 1963. After servicing in the Airforce, they moved to Washington DC where he worked for the Department Intelligence Agency (DIA) at the Pentagon. In 1978 he and his family moved to Worland, Wyoming where he owned a landscaping and floral business. In 1988 he and Betty divorced and he moved back to northern Virginia to resume his position at the DIA. In 1989 he married Linda Dean Shoemaker. He retired from the DIA in 2000 where he resided in Virginia. In 2013 he moved back to Wyoming to be near his daughter who cared for him due to the progression of dementia.

Jim enjoyed family vacations to the beach, camping and visiting with his family. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing with his sons and his hunting buddies, AKA "The Bubba Gang." His passion for the Washington Redskins was well known for all who knew him. In January of 2017, Jim was blessed by his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren with a surprise 75th Birthday Celebration. He loved being with family and found joy being around his grandchildren.

Jim is survived by Doug (Cheri) Pyer of New Hope, PA, Terry (Sid) Pyer of Worland, Wyoming, and Tammy (John) Michael of Casper, Wyoming; by his grandchildren Ryan and Amy Pyer, Shelsi Pyer, Stephen (Shawn) Pyer, Shannan Pyer, and Bryant and Cody Michael. He is also survived by his great grandchildren; Jaxson Pyer, Jerzee and Axton Pyer, and Zerena Skogen-Michael. He was preceded in death by his wife Linda in October of 2012.

The service will be held at Bustards Funeral Home, 600 CY Ave., Casper, Wyoming. on Saturday, September 2, 2017 at 3:00 pm. His final resting place will be beside his wife Linda in Manassas, Virginia.
