NEWCASTLE - Their backs are against the wall and if they are to make their fourth consecutive 3A volleyball state tournament the Worland Lady Warriors need to put together their best two matches of the season on Saturday
Dropping their first-round match to No. 2 East-seed the Torrington Lady Blazers 3-1 (25-21, 27-25, 21-25, 25-22), the Lady Warriors battled all match but could not find a way to break through.
Throughout the match the Lady Warriors held leads late or were tied, but could not put enough plays together to finish off a game.
The Lady Warriors will need to right the ship, and quickly, as they play Newcastle at 9 a.m. today in a loser-out match. If Worland is able to takedown the Lady Dogies, next they will need to beat Buffalo in order to secure a spot at the state tournament.
The Lady Bison have had the Lady Warriors number this season, beating them twice already, but the postseason is a different animal and what happened in the regular season does not necessarily carryover.
The match between Buffalo and the winner of Worland/Newcastle will begin at 12:30 p.m.
