Archie Lewis Harvard, 97, died in Casper, Wyoming November 5, 2017 following a brief illness. Archie was born December, 31, 1919 to Mildred Bader and Lewis Archie Harvard on his father's homestead south of Ten Sleep, Wyoming. When he was six years old he and his brother moved to the state of Washington. He returned to Ten Sleep when he was 13 and lived with his grandmother on the Nowood. He graduated from the Spring Creek School and worked for ranchers in the area. He was inducted into the U.S. Army January 9, 1942. He served in New York Harbor, England, France, Holland, Germany and Belgium. He was discharged in November 1945 at Fort Carson, CO.
On December 9, 1941 he married Pauline Waln at the Baptist parsonage in Worland. To this union two children were born. Henry Lewis Harvard and Peggy Lou Harvard. He worked in construction in the motor shop at Pure Oil. He served his apprenticeship as a bricklayer, and in 1967 he started to work for the state of Wyoming at the Industrial School for Boys. He retired December 31, 1985.
Archie is survived by his son Henry (Doris) Harvard of Casper, WY; daughter Peggy (Chuck) Morrison of Centennial, CO; three grandchildren; Heather Morrison-Dean of Littleton, CO, Jason and Chad Harvard of Casper, WY and five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Frances Pauline, his parents and his brother, John Arden Harvard and his sister Mrs. Ione Parkhurst. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, November 10, 2017 at the Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Worland. A graveside service will follow at 1:30 p.m. at the Ten Sleep Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Veile Mortuary.
