Serving the Big Horn Basin for over 100 years

Pete Allen Kuhn

Pete Allen Kuhn went to be with the Lord October 31, 2017. Born on April 17, 1957 to David and Bette "Pinky" Kuhn in Las Vegas, Nevada. He graduated from Valley High School in 1975 and attended the University of Nevada-Reno (UNR) on a football scholarship.

Pete married Sharon Raegen March 1979, who preceded him in death April 1979. In March of 1980 Pete married Alexis Gorman, adopting her son Chris Kuhn, and together they had a child Kyle Kuhn.

Later in life he was married to Holly Ann Kuhn on September 1, 1995, adopting her two children Alexander Kuhn and Amanda Briggs, and together they shared 22 blissful years.

Intimidating at first glance, any fears or reservations one had about Pete were quickly dismissed with his big smile and enthusiastic greeting. He was never shy to share his faith and trust in his Lord and Savior. As most ministers tend to be, he was genuinely interested in everyone's well being and was one of the first to offer a helping hand. His favorite verse(s) from the Bible was Genesis 1:1 - Revelation 22: 21.

Pete received Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and surrendered to the ministry; that, along with his outgoing personality, is why he was able to positively impact so many lives. He was always the first to admit his faults, missteps and never pretended to be perfect. He enjoyed sharing his testimony because he felt if he could find salvation anyone could.

After playing three seasons at UNR, Pete tried out for the Denver Broncos and was about to make the team before injury closed the door on that opportunity. Soon after he entered the mining industry where he found his secular passion of mine safety and mine rescue. He worked in the industry for over 40 years and as someone who wanted to help those in need, it was a dream job.

Pete's secular job in the mining industry gave him the opportunity to expand his ministry at each of the stops whether that was at Grace Southern Baptist in Greybull, WY, his first church, or Imlay Baptist Church in Imlay, NV.

Although we will never get to experience his smile, infectious laugh and giant bear hugs again, Pete Kuhn's passion for his faith, wife Holly, family and life will have a lasting impact on all who crossed his path. We will all carry forward his memory as we try to bring the same joy and earnest attitude he had day in and day out.

He is survived by his wife Holly, his four children Chris, Kyle, Alexander and his wife Jessica, and Amanda and her husband Danny and his eight grandchildren.

Pete's funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 8 at the First Baptist Church in Winnemucca, NV. In lieu of flowers donations to Operation Christmas Child (http://wwwsamaritanspurse.org/occ) and/or Bi-Vocational Pastor Endowment at NV Baptist Convention (http://www.nevadabaptistconvention.org/offerings/).
