LARAMIE — The Wyoming State Football Championships begin Friday with the Class 2A and 3A title games.
First up at War Memorial Stadium in Laramie is Mountain View and Glenrock at noon on Friday. The game pits the two No. 1 seeds against each other, Mountain View from the West and Glenrock from the East. Mountain View defeated Thermopolis 45-0 in the quarterfinals and shutout Wheatland by the same score in the semifinals last Friday.
For the Glenrock Herders, they dominated the quarterfinal game against Lovell, 61-6, but had a tough contest in the semifinals, edging Big Piney, 30-27.
The Class 3A state title game begins at 3 p.m. with No. 1 from the East, Torrington, facing off against No. 3 from the West, Cody.
Torrington defeated Worland 46-21 in the quarterfinals and edged Green River 17-13 in the semifinals last Friday.
Cody upset No. 2 Buffalo in the quarterfinals 27-0 and then upset the No. 1 team from the West, Star Valley, 31-21, to advance to the championship game.
The other three title games will all be held on Saturday, Nov. 11, with Class 1A 6-man at 10 a.m., Class 1A at 1 p.m. and Class 4A at 4 p.m.
Kaycee and Farson-Eden, both No. 1 seeds, face off in the 1A 6-man title game. Kaycee defeated Meeteetse, 77-0, in the quarterfinals and Burlington 47-38 in the semifinals last weekend. Burlington had defeated Midwest 52-22 in the quarterfinals to advance to the semifinals.
Farson-Eden defeated Guernsey-Sunrise (73-24) and then Little Snake River (50-32) to advance to the title game.
For Class 1A, No. 1 from the East Pine Bluffs will take on No. 2 from the East Big Horn. Pine Bluffs defeated Saratoga (58-0) and Upton-Sundance (14-7) in the quarter finals and semifinals. Big Horn defeated Wind River (51-0) and upset No. 1 Cokeville, 12-7, in the semifinals.
In Class 4A Sheridan, No. 1 seed, will face the No. 2 seeded Natrona County in the championship game. Natrona County defeated Laramie 44-6, and then Cheyenne East, 44-0, to advance. Sheridan defeated Cheyenne Central 54-7 and then Kelly Walsh 28-7.
