WORLAND — Recently 2 counterfeit $100 bills have been found on the ground at separate locations in Worland, according to a press release from the Washakie County Sheriff’s Office and Worland Police Department.
These fake bills are known as “Chinese Prop Money” and have been around for several years. They come in other denominations in addition to the $100 bills. The bills have pink chinese writing on them but otherwise look very similar to the real thing. These particular bills usually pass the counterfeit marker test, but they are still counterfeit.
The WCSO and WPD remind residents and businesses to check money closely to make sure it is real. If anyone comes across counterfeit bills or has a question about a suspicious bill, notify the Washakie County Sheriff’s Office or Worland Police Department.
