County to hear Development Association plans Tuesday

WORLAND –The Washakie County Commission will review regular business and hear about a proposed headquarters move for the Washakie Development Association at their regular meeting on Tuesday.

According to LeAnn Baker with the WDA, the offices will move to their previous location at the Cloverfield Building at the Lighthouse complex. The WDA is currently occupying offices at the Washakie Development building, but future plans could include selling the building.

Also on Tuesday, the commission will hear from County Assessor Kathy Treanor regarding security at the Office of the Assessor and reconfiguring the office floorplan to change the entrance.

The commission will also hear regular department reports from the Road and Bridge department and the Historic Preservation Board.

The commission met with the preservation board in October to discuss a grant application for $9,045 to go toward a preservation project. The commission voted to approve the grant application, and the preservation board would provide in-kind funds of $5,768 to cover the complete cost of $14,813.

The goal of the plan would be to collect all of the available local history and combine it into one depository for future research.

The board plans to hold public meetings to introduce the structure of the preservation plan, and hire a coordinator to manage the project with the approved funds.

In 2016, the board did a major study of the original construction of Highway 16, and continued to identify and document historic buildings around the county.

The commission meets at 9 a.m. on Tuesday in the County Commission chambers in the Washakie County Courthouse. All meetings are open to the public.
