More snow on the way, along with cold

According to the National Weather Service, even though snowfall amounts will generally be light from a skiff to 2 inches, the combination of the snowfall, strong north winds of 25 to 40 mph for several hours and falling temperatures will create potential problems if you are not prepared.

Travelers are advised to take the appropriate precautions if travelling around the area Wednesday or Wednesday night.

Temperatures Wednesday are forecast for a high near 41 and a low of 7, with wind chill values at -5.

Thursday highs drop to near 21 with a low around 3.

After the storm Wednesday, an arctic cold front and storm system will spread snow and bitter cold air across the area on Friday and Saturday. Highs Friday are forecast around 22 with a low around 0. Saturday’s highs drop to the teens, near 14. Saturday night will see the first subzero temperatures with -6 forecast.

Worland saw record snowfall on Saturday, Dec. 16. According to NWS records, Worland received .29 inches of precipitation on Saturday, beating an old record of .14 inches in 1975. For the month, Worland has received .32 inches, which is .20 inches above normal for this time of year.

For the year, 2017 has brought 8.8 inches of precipitation to the Worland area, with the average precipitation at 7.46 inches. Worland saw 9.82 inches in 2016, from January through Dec. 16, 2016.
