Harold Costalez

Harold Costalez, 87-

year-old lifetime Worland resident, peacefully returned to his Heavenly Father surrounded by his family on December 21, 2017. Harold was born in Manderson, WY October 31, 1930 to Gregorio & Juanita (Cadena) Costalez and was the youngest of seven children. Residing in Manderson for a few years, the family moved to Worland, WY where Harold would attend school. Harold continued to live in Worland in the same house until the time of his aneurism in 2010.

During his early 20's, Harold worked on farms in the local Worland area. He learned to operate farming equipment and learned the meaning of hard work, a characteristic many knew him for. It was during his early years when he also met his first love Esther Chavis. Together the two would have one child, Linda Costalez, in 1948. Unfortunately, Esther died during childbirth leaving Harold to raise Linda as a single parent. Harold took on this responsibility with pride, always putting his family first.

In 1951, Harold started employment at Holly Sugar Co. He would work various jobs at the plant up to the time of his retirement in 1995, retiring as a "sugar boiler." During his spare time, Harold would stay busy repairing cars for his family and friends. Harold also enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. Many friends and family members recall Harold requesting them to catch grasshoppers, keeping his "fish bait" well stocked. Harold was well known for neighborhood fish fries, which often included music and dancing.

Shortly thereafter, Harold met Molly Ledesma, marrying in 1968. Together the two would have one child, Amelia May. Amelia passed away as an infant and shortly after Molly and Harold divorced. A few years later, Harold met Christine Buhler marrying in 1970. During the sixteen years of their marriage, Christine and Harold had four children; Jenny Rebecca Costalez, Carrie Elena Costalez, Harold Patrick Costalez, & Iesha Kay Costalez.

Harold remained close with his family throughout his lifetime up until the decline of his health. Harold passed away in Worland, Wyoming at the Washakie Memorial Hospital leaving behind many friends and family. Harold was musical, creative, and touched the lives of us all. Harold is proceeded in death by his first wife Esther, by daughter Amelia, grandson Garett Bunn, and great grandson Phillip Buhler. Harold is survived by his children Linda Buhler (Ivan), Carrie Ruffing, Iesha Costalez, Patrick Costalez (all of Worland, WY), and Jenny Bunn (Jason) of Kuna, ID. Harold is also survived by his grandchildren Gene Buhler, Nora Anderson, Trevor Costalez, TeAnna Diede, Wyatt Diede (all of Worland, WY), Tyrell Bunn of Kuna, ID, and by great grand daughter Christa Buhler of Powell, WY.

Harold's Memorial Mass will be celebrated December 28, 2017 at 10 A.M. at St. Mary Magdalen Church in Worland WY. A prayer vigil service will be held December 27, 2017 at the St. Mary Magdalen Church at 7 P.M. where friends and family will have time to share favorite memories of Harold. The family wishes to thank everyone for their support and words of encouragement. Arrangements have been entrusted to Veile Mortuary.
